SPBA Approved Breed Show Program

Prior to 2009, the Southwestern Pole Bending Association established an “Approved Breed Show” program. The Approved breed Show program is designed to encourage AQHA approved shows and special events to voluntarily comply with certain best practices in the presentation of barrel racing and pole bending classes (use of solid pole bases, use of electric timers etc). An explanation of these best practices is at this link. While these best practices are not required by AQHA rules, compliance with them is expected to attract speed event exhibitors to an event. While these events are not the only AQHA approved events to offer barrel racing and pole bending classes, they did typically have significantly more barrel racing and pole bending entries than other events.

The following AQHA approved shows and special events have been confirmed by the Southwestern Pole Bending Association as having met the “Approved Breed Show” best practices with respect to the barrel racing and pole bending classes. The dates of these shows and special events in 2010 are set forth below:
