DINKY'S RED MAN LEADS LIST OF AQHA

1999 LEADING POLE BENDING SIRES

 

The American Quarter Horse Association has released the list of leading pole bending sires for 1999.  Heading the list of sires of horses earning points in open pole bending classes at AQHA approved shows is one of pole bending's all time leading sires, Dinky's Red Man.  Horses sired by Dinky's Red Man earned  160 points.  Dinky's Red Man's leading point earner was Dinky's Purple Rain,  owned by Janis and Patricia Wagner of Dry Ridge, KY.  Dinky's Red Man was also the sire of the 3rd and 4th place horses at the 1999 AQHA World Championship Show in Junior Pole Bending, Dinkys Roana Samona owned by Doug Brown, Shadow Hills, CA and Dinkys Purple Rain .  Recently deceased, Dinky's Red Man was owned and stood by Amy Belk of Washburn, TN.  A World Champion himself, Dinky's Red Man has sired three World Champions who have won five World Championships in pole bending and barrel racing, including two time World Champion Regally Royally Red, two time World Champion Dinkys Super Star and Amateur World Champion Dinkys Purple Rain.

Following Dinky's Red Man in the next three slots are three other perennial pole bending leading sires.  In second place with get earning 147.5 points is Fe Fe's Bug, whose leading get was Flying Ross Go Bug, owned by Ross Carnahan, Vincennes, In, with 62.5 points.  Flying Ross Go Bug also placed 6th at the 1999 AQHA World Championship Show in Junior Pole Bending.  Following in third place was Sugar Rancher whose get earned 140 points and whose leading point earner was Lightning Sugar Bull with 63 points.  Sugar Rancher also sired True Sugar Baby, owned by Henry Wright, Dry Ridge, KY, which placed 5th at the 1999 AQHA World Championship Show in Junior Pole Bending.

In fourth place was four time World Champion Rene Dan Jet with 136.5 points.  Rene's most talented point earner was Renes Jet Charge, owned by Brad Wagner, West Harrison, IN.  Renes Jet Charge earned 77 points and was the Reserve World Champion in Junior Poles Bending at the 1999 AQHA World Championship Show.  Rene Dan Jet is the only leading sire still showing actively and was Reserve World Champion at the AQHA World Championship show in 1999 in Senior Pole Bending.  In fifth place was Zero Badger Boy the sire of the 1999 AQHA High Point Pole Bending Horse Glory Be Badger, owned by Justin Leasor, Hodgenville, KY, who earned 104.5 points.

Rounding out the top ten was The Dirty Venture (78), Matts Golden Luck (sire of 1999 AQHA World Champion in Senior Pole Bending, Little Berseem) (61), Sonny's Cowboy (59.5), Sky Sonny Bar (58) and Bea Sonny Red (57.5) which tied with Undertaker Billy (57.5) for tenth place.

The top ten leading pole bending sires of horses earning points in amateur classes at AQHA approved shows were also announced.  Dinky's Red Man was first with earners of 107 points, followed by Sonny's Cowboy (99.5), Sky Sonny Bar (60.5), Butler (51), Joey Time (48), Abe's Leo (47), The Dirty Venture, sire of the 1999 AQHA World Champion in Amateur Pole Bending Iam A Venturized Man, owned by Kyle Campbell, Barbourville, KY (43.5), Double Straw Bar (35.5), Red Dees Lad (35) and Do It Easy Honey (29.5).
